Champions League/league phase (Matchday 2): head-to-head LOSC Lille - Real Madrid, 02/10/2024

With a turnover of €843m for the 2022-23 financial year (from 01/07/2022 to 30/06/2023), Real Madrid CF (LALIGA EA Sports) posted a result 7.8 times higher than that of LOSC Lille (Ligue 1 McDonald's, €107m), as the two clubs prepare to face each other on Matchday 2 of the new league phase in the 2024-25 Champions League on Wednesday 02/10/2024 (kick-off at 21:00 CET) at the Decathlon Arena Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Villeneuve-d'Ascq, FRA).

During the 2022-23 season, Real Madrid's wage bill (€408m) was 5.6 times greater than that of their French rivals (€73m). The Spanish champions posted a profit of €11.8m, while Lille posted a positive result of €29.9m.

While LOSC Lille's annual accounts for 2023-24 are not yet available, the reigning European champions Real Madrid became the first football club in the world to reach a billion euros in turnover (excluding transfers), an increase of 27% compared with 2022-23. The Spanish club's financial results, which have yet to be approved by the next general members' assembly, also ended with a positive net profit, also up, at €15.6m (+32%).
