LFP: French Senate fact-finding mission criticises "deceptive cut" in Vincent Labrune's salary

Senators Laurent Lafon (Union Centriste - Val-de-Marne), chairman, and Michel Savin (Les Républicains - Isère), rapporteur for the French Senate's fact-finding mission on the involvement of investment funds in French football, have criticised "a deceptive cut" in the decision "by the board of directors of the Ligue de Football Professionnel to reduce the salary of its president from €1.2m to €840,000 a year" they stated in a press release on 02/10/2024.

The senators explained that the increase in Vincent Labrune's salary from €420,000 to €1.2m voted for in September 2022 "was financed from 2022 to 2024 not from the LFP's budget, but from the fees envelope defined within the €1.5bn contribution paid by CVC as part of its acquisition of a stake in the commercial company."

"This salary increase was not intended to last beyond 2024," added Laurent Lafon and Michel Savin in a press release that News Tank Football has reproduced in full below.
