LFP: contract still not signed with beIN, which wants to co-broadcast its Ligue 1 matches (press)

The contract between the LFP and pay-TV group beIN SPORTS France for the broadcasting of Ligue 1 McDonald's over the 2024-2029 cycle has still not been signed, according to information from the French daily newspaper L'Equipe on 04/10/2024.

beIN acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to one game per Ligue 1 matchday for €100m per season (including €80m in TV rights and €20m in sponsorship rights) on 01/08/2024. However, the group has not yet signed the agreement or paid the first financial instalment set for August 2024, unlike pay-TV platform DAZN (which holds exclusive TV rights to eight out of nine matches for an average of €400m a year).

The Qatari group's French subsidiary would particularly like to negotiate the possibility of sub-licensing its match for co-broadcasting with another pay-TV player, according to L'Équipe. However, in its initial call for tenders launched on 12/09 and declared unsuccessful on 17/10/2023, the LFP stated that there could be no more than two pay-TV broadcasters for the French top flight.
