France/TV audiences: a "record" summer with Euro 2024, Tour de France & Olympic Games (Médiamétrie)

"The sporting events of the summer of 2024 broke all records. Audiences showed a strong appetite for sports programmes on television. Over the summer period - from 14/06 to 08/09 - Euro 2024, the Tour de France and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games accounted for 18% of all programmes watched on television (in France), while representing 2% of the total content offered by channels," announced the French audience measurement institute Médiamétrie on 03/10/2024.

With regard to Euro 2024, 54.3 million viewers were "in contact" with the competition on the private free-TV channels TF1 and M6, according to Médiamétrie. "On average, 15% of the audience was generated away from home, and even 21% for the final, during which Spain beat England," said the institute.

43.2 million viewers were "in contact" with the Tour de France 2024 (from 29/06 to 21/07/2024) on the public TV channels France 2 or France 3 (France Télévisions), according to the institute.
