Intersport: Gérard Leclerc succeeds Jacky Rihouet as president & CEO for France and Belgium

Gérard Leclerc has been elected president and CEO of Intersport for France and Belgium, announced the Swiss sporting goods retailer on 08/10/2024. Leclerc, who has been involved in a number of the company's committees since 1996, has been vice-president for France since 2021.

Leclerc succeeds Jacky Rihouet, who has been president and CEO since June 2010. "When I took over as president of the cooperative, I had a deep-rooted desire: to make Intersport the sports retailer closest to the French people. Today, Intersport has a formidable network of 900 shops across France, we have the recognition of more than 13 million loyal customers and we have quadrupled our sales in 14 years," he explained.

In France, Intersport expects to post a turnover of €3.65bn for the 2023 financial year, up 12.5% on 2022 (€3.26bn). These results were driven in particular by online sales, which were up by 12%. Intersport France also acquired Go Sport (72 shops), which was in receivership at the time, for €35m in April 2023.
