United States: Major League Soccer posts record attendance of 11 million spectators in 2024

Major League Soccer's 29 franchises drew a total of 11 million spectators during the 2024 regular season (16 matches remaining until 19/10), an "all-time attendance record" for the North American league, announced MLS on 07/10/2024.

The average attendance per match was 23,240. MLS has thus surpassed its previous record, set in 2023 with 10.9 million cumulative spectators. This is also the third consecutive season with a total attendance of over 10 million.

The attendance record for a single match during the 2024 season was set by Sporting Kansas City - Inter Miami CF (2-3), played by Argentina international Lionel Messi, with 72,610 spectators at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium on 13/04/2024. It was also the fourth-best attendance for an MLS match in the history of the competition.

"The arrival of international stars and the work from clubs to create more unique, fan-friendly ticket packages and matchday experiences are among the key drivers of the continued surge of record-breaking attendance across MLS," explained the North American league.
