American Stephen Pagliuca, majority shareholder in Atalanta BC (Serie A Enilive), co-owner of the Boston Celtics (NBA) and co-chairman of the investment firm Bain Capital, is in talks to buy Red Star FC (Ligue 2 BKT), according to a report in L'Equipe that News Tank Football is able to confirm.

Since July 2024, the American investment fund 777 Partners, which was declared bankrupt, has lost its assets, including stakes in seven football clubs, which have now been transferred to its main creditor, the American strategic insurance investment company A-Cap. A-Cap has appointed investment bank Moelis & Company (USA) to sell some or all of these clubs, including Red Star.

So far, only Standard de Liège (Jupiler Pro League), which was acquired 100% by 777 Partners in 2022, has found a buyer in former owner Bruno Venanzi.
