ECA/31^st general assembly: "Solidarity is a core part of our mission" (Nasser Al-Khelaïfi)

"We support the whole pyramid of football, which makes our own membership even stronger. We have moved away from a world of 'haves' and 'have nots', to a more virtuous system based on the collective. Solidarity is a core part of ECA's mission, ensuring non-participating clubs also benefit from the success of participating clubs (in European Cups). Today, for example, €308m per year of solidarity now goes to clubs who don’t play in any European competitions; and €132m a year goes to clubs who don't progress beyond the qualifying rounds - 75% more than last cycle," said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, chairman of the European Club Association, on 10/10/2024.

The Qatari leader spoke just after Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, during the opening of the plenary session of the 31^st ECA general assembly being held in Athens (GRE) from 08 to 10/10/2024. More than 400 of the organisation's 717 member clubs (as of 07/10/2024) are taking part in the event.
