esports: FIFAe World Cup 2024 to be played on Konami's eFootball (formerly PES) video game

FIFAe, FIFA's official esports division, has signed a collaboration agreement with video games publisher Konami to launch a global competition (FIFAe World Cup) based on the eFootball (formerly PES) video game, announced the two parties on 10/10/2024.

The qualifying phase for the tournament, which will be played on consoles (PS4 and PS5) and mobile devices, began the same day. 18 countries are taking part in 2024: Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand and Turkey.

"This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to promote football globally and to provide a platform for players to showcase their skills. We truly believe in an inclusive ecosystem which allows different communities to be part of the FIFAe competitions," said Romy Gai, chief business officer at FIFA.

FIFAe has also partnered with video game publisher Psyonix (owned by Epic Games) to launch a global competition on the video game Rocket League, a car football game, on 23/06/2024.
