Tennis: a record 2 billion cumulative viewers for Grand Slam tournaments in 2024

The four Grand Slam tennis tournaments (Australian Open, Roland-Garros, Wimbledon, US Open) posted a record cumulative audience of nearly 2 billion viewers in "more than 200 countries" in 2024, announced their organisers on 10/10/2024.

"The Grand Slams have also seen remarkable growth in their social media audiences. With an increase of more than 30% in the numbers of in-tournament video views and impressions, the four events combined have reached upwards of 6.3 billion total views and a staggering 12 billion impressions. On-site attendance also grew to record levels, with more than 3,360,000 fans attending the tournaments, a 10% increase in 2023," added the organisers.

The total prize money paid out to players in the four major tournaments amounted to $254m (€232m), compared with $231m in 2023. " This year-on-year growth underscores the commitment of the Grand Slam events to invest in the sport and its athletes."
