Bundesliga: a project to extend Union Berlin's stadium, financed by the club's members (€60m)

1. FC Union Berlin's (Bundesliga) general assembly has approved the project to expand the Stadion An der Alten Försterei (Berlin, Germany) to a capacity of around 40,000 (compared with 22,012 at present), including 32,000 seats, announced the club on 03/10/2024.

The project is to be financed via a €60m capital increase by An der Alten Försterei Stadionbetriebs AG, the company responsible for managing the stadium and in which the club is the majority shareholder. 120,000 shares at a unit price of €500 will be issued to Union Berlin's 67,638 members once this initiative has been approved at the company's general assembly on 14/11/2024.

As well as extending the stadium, the project includes the construction of a car park, a clubhouse, offices for the club and a new training centre for its men's and women's teams. During the works, which are due to start in the summer of 2026 and be completed one or two years later, the club will play its home matches at Berlin's Olympiastadion.
