Bundesliga: Commerzbank extends its naming rights to the stadium in Frankfurt until 2020

The German bank Commerzbank has extended its contract for the naming rights to the stadium in Frankfurt (capacity 51,500) until 2020, the company announced on 11/02/2015.

The naming contract, that was due to expire in July 2015, has been extended for five seasons. The annual amount paid will increase from €3m to nearly €4m. Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga), the stadium's resident team, will receive nearly €2.5m per season on the contract, according to several German media outlets. The stadium is operated by the company Stadion Frankfurt Management GmbH. Commerzbank has held the naming rights to the stadium since the 2005-06 season.

  • The stadium was renovated between 2002 and 2005, and hosted the 2006 World Cup.
    • Cost of renovation: €190m
    • The stadium has 83 private boxes from 6-22 seats, for a total box capacity of 1,000.
    • Commerzbank also receives 2,200 seats as part of the agreement.
    • The stadium hosted 48 events in 2014 with a total of 1.5 million spectators.
  • Eintracht Frankfurt expects a turnover of €81 million in 2014-15.
