Union of European Clubs: "President Infantino, simply abolish the Club World Cup" (J. Tebas, LALIGA)

"I'd like to send a special message to Gianni Infantino and FIFA about the Club World Cup. Dear president, you have not sold enough broadcasting rights to pay the participating clubs the expected amounts, you do not have the sponsors provided for in the budget, the national leagues and the players' unions do not want this competition, so please, simply abolish the Club World Cup," declared Javier Tebas, president of LALIGA, at the European Professional Football Forum organised in Brussels (BEL) by the Union of European Clubs (UEC) on 15/10/2024.

The Spaniard spoke the day after it was announced that FIFPRO Europe, European Leagues and LALIGA had filed a complaint with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition against FIFA regarding the international match calendar.
