NBA: 726.8 million followers on the social networks of the league & its 30 franchises (+6% vs 2023)

The National Basketball Association and the 30 franchises taking part in the North American basketball league have a cumulative 726.8 million followers on the social networks Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube (i.e. 155 accounts), according to figures compiled by News Tank Football for the start of the 2024-25 NBA season on 23/10/2024.

This total is 6% up compared to 23/10/2023. YouTube and TikTok are the networks that have posted the biggest percentage growth, with fanbases that have each risen by 17%. In detail, the League's official accounts have nearly 230 million followers (+10.2%), 38% of whom come from Instagram alone.

The 30 North American franchises have 496.9 million followers, an increase of 4%. The Minnesota Timberwolves team have posted the biggest percentage growth since this time last year, with 24.1% more followers (best growth on all networks except YouTube), ahead of the Dallas Mavericks (+16%) and the Denver Nuggets (+14.7%).
