Piracy/Italy: a "warning" to DAZN after Google Drive was blocked by mistake on 19/10/2024

"The AGCOM board, in light of the technical report presented by the competent offices on the event that occurred on Saturday evening in relation to a blocking report mistakenly referred to Google Drive, decided to warn DAZN, as an accredited reporter on the Piracy Shield platform, to ensure the utmost diligence and rigour in the submission of blocking requests and the collection of the relevant evidence. The Authority reserved the right to take all measures within its competence in case of non-compliance," announced the Italian regulatory authority for telecommunications on 23/10/2024.

The Authority mistakenly blocked a domain name for the Google Drive service in Italy via the Piracy Shield platform on the evening of Saturday 19/10/2024, following a request from the OTT platform DAZN. As a result, many users were unable to access the American group's online storage service.
