Spain: "Completely false debate [that] starts with the English lobby" surrounds TPO (J. Tebas, LFP)

"We are challenging the decision of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) not to allow TPO (Third Party Ownership) because we think it is vital for the health of our clubs that they can use investment funds. A completely false debate has been created around third-party investment and that debate starts with the English lobby," said Javier Tebas, the president of the LFP (Spanish Professional Football League), on 14/02/2015.

The Executive Committee of FIFA decided on 19/12/2014 to ban the ownership of players by third parties beginning 01/05/2015, stating: "Existing agreements shall continue to be in place until their contractual expiry. New agreements made between 01/01/2015 and 30/04/2015 will be subject to a time limit (one year maximum)." The LFP and the LPFP (Portuguese Professional Football League) denounced the decision to the European Commission of the Directorate General for Competition on 09/02/2015.
