2030 World Cup: "An opportunity to break down barriers and inspire young people" (Andrés Iniesta)

"I love the ambition of this Spain - Morocco - Portugal bid to deliver the best World Cup ever in 2030 and to use this opportunity to break down barriers and inspire young people, both in the host countries and around the world," said Andrés Iniesta (131 caps for Spain), who has been appointed official ambassador of the bid committee, in an interview organised by the committee for a pool of international media on 28/10/2024.

"Football and the World Cup in particular offer a fantastic opportunity to inspire positive change across the world. With the ambition shown by the bid from Morocco, Portugal and Spain, I am convinced that this opportunity will be seized," added the former midfielder, born on 11/05/1984 and who, at the age of 40, recently announced his retirement from sport on 08/10/2024.

Like him, former footballers Luís Figo (127 times for Portugal) and Noureddine Naybet (115 matches for Morocco) are Ambassadors for the 2030 World Cup, as indicated by the bid committee in Lisbon (POR) on 19/03/2024.
