Basketball: George Aivazoglou promoted to managing director of NBA Europe & Middle East (EME)

George Aivazoglou has been promoted to managing director of NBA Europe and Middle East (EME), announced the National Basketball Association on 05/11/2024.

The Greek already held this position on an interim basis to replace Ralph Rivera who left in June 2023, in addition to being vice president, head of fan engagement and DtoC for NBA Europe and Middle East, since June 2020.

"I look forward to continue working with our colleagues in London (ENG), Madrid (ESP) and regional offices around the world to accelerate taking basketball and the NBA to new heights in Europe and the Middle East. While basketball and the NBA have a rich and storied tradition in the region, I believe we are just scratching the surface in terms of the growth potential for our sport," said George Aivazoglou.

From the NBA's European office in London, he will continue to report to Mark Tatum, deputy commissioner of the NBA. "His business acumen and deep understanding of the media and sports industries will be hugely beneficial as we further expand the NBA's presence in the region," said Tatum.
