Spain: football bodies set up crisis committee to assess damage to infrastructures caused by floods

Spanish football has set up a crisis committee made up of the RFEF, the LALIGA, the Liga F, the Valencian Community Football Federation (regional league), whose territory was worst affected, and the Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation (another regional league), to analyse the damage suffered by sports infrastructures, to collaborate in their reconstruction and to provide all possible support in this area, announced the Spanish authorities on 05/11/2024, some eight days after the deadly floods that ravaged the Valencia region on 29 and 30/10/2024.

These floods have killed 219 people in Spain, 214 of them in the Valencia region, and 89 people are still missing as of 06/11/2024.

"The committee will carry out a damage assessment of sporting facilities where football is played after the situation has returned to a minimum level of normality. Already it is believed that at least 105 football and futsal centres have been affected," said the Spanish bodies.
