Japan: Red Bull acquires third division side Saitama, to be renamed RB Omiya Ardija from 01/01/2025

Red Bull, an Austrian group specialised in the production and marketing of energy drinks, will become the owner of Omiya Ardija (3^rd division), a Japanese club based in the city of Saitama, from 01/01/2025, announced the group on 06/11/2024. The club will take the name "RB Omiya Ardija."

"The club's new crest combines the uniform design of Red Bull's global network with the addition of orange, the symbol of the Omiya district," explained the club, which was founded in 1998 and is changing its visual identity to mark the occasion.

Red Bull, owner of five clubs, including RB Leipzig (Bundesliga) and Red Bull Salzburg (Admiral Bundesliga, AUT) in Europe, is thus increasing its investment in football. In May 2024, the group became a minority shareholder (and main shirt sponsor) of Leeds United FC (Sky Bet Championship) and is due to acquire 15% of Paris FC (Ligue 2 BKT) as part of the purchase of a majority stake in the Parisian club (initially 55% and then 80% in 2027) by the family of French entrepreneur Bernard Arnault, owner of luxury goods group LVMH.
