Italy/FIGC: amendments to statutes approved by 83.3% of votes cast during extraordinary assembly

The FIGC approved the amendments to 10 articles of the statutes proposed by president Gabriele Gravina at the Italian Football Federation's extraordinary assembly held in Rome Fiumicino (ITA) on 04/11/2024.

Results of the overall vote: 376.35 votes in favour (83.3%), 29.03 against (6.4%) and 46.40 abstentions (10.3%) out of the 253 votes cast, for a total of 461.69 votes.

The amendments concern the autonomy of all leagues to organise their own championships, the autonomy of the Referees' Association (AIA) to manage its own affairs, a right of veto for Lega Serie A on matters falling within its specific remit, and new rules governing electoral weightings and representation on the Italian Federation's Federal Council.

Lega Serie A thus increased its representation from 12% to 18% of the vote and obtained four councillors instead of three, Lega Serie B increased its representation from 5% to 6% and obtained one councillor, while Lega Pro's representation was reduced from 17% to 12% and that of AIA to zero.
