Olympique Lyonnais: "precautionary relegation at the end of the season" (DNCG) John Textor confident

In application of article 11 of the DNCG's regulations, the Professional Clubs Control Committee has decided to impose a "wage bill restrictions and a ban on recruitment" and, above all, "relegation as a precautionary measure at the end of the current sporting season" on Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's) as part of its review of the situation of clubs for the 2024-25 sporting season, announced the Ligue de Football Professionnel on 15/11/2024.

These sanctions come nine days after Eagle Football Group, owner of OL, presented its financial results for the 2023-24 financial year (from 01/07/2023 to 30/06/2024). These results saw revenue from the club's activities reach €361.4m, up 25% on 2022-23 (€289.7m), and the net loss reduced to €25.7m, compared with a deficit of €99m at the end of the previous financial year. Nevertheless, OL's financial debt rose sharply in 2023-24, to €505.1m, compared with €458.5m a year earlier.
