Germany: first "Sustainability Day" for amateur and professional clubs co-organised by the DFL & DFB

The Deutsche Fußball Liga and the Deutscher Fussball Bund have organised the first "Sustainability Day" for amateur and professional clubs at the DFB-Campus (Frankfurt, GER) on Thursday 14/11/2024.

"Around 160 participants came together for the day characterised by mutual learning between professional and amateur clubs and the development of sustainable action concepts - both on and off the pitch. Key sustainability topics were addressed in workshops, such as sustainability management, anti-discrimination and diversity, child and youth protection, prevention and health as well as energy and resource management," explained the DFL.

The Bundesliga and the 2.Bundesliga were the first two leagues among the European Top 5 to adopt mandatory sustainability criteria for the award of a licence at a general assembly in May 2022, with the criteria taking effect from the 2023-24 season.
