NBA: new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to show games outside the USA; legal dispute "resolved"

Warner Bros. Discovery has acquired the rights to broadcast NBA games in Poland, Latin America (excluding Mexico and Brazil) and the Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark) over 2025-2036, announced the media and entertainment conglomerate on 18/11/2024.

This new agreement puts an end to a legal dispute lasting several months between the NBA and the American group. Warner filed a complaint on 26/07/2024 concerning the award of the NBA's domestic media rights for the 2025-2036 cycle. Warner criticised the North American league for favouring Amazon's bid over its own, even though the amount offered was the same ($1.8bn per season). On 23/08/2024, the NBA filed a motion with the Supreme Court of New York (New York, USA) to dismiss this complaint. "Warner Bros. Discovery and the NBA have resolved all disputes relating to the NBA's recent media agreements," said the conglomorate.
