• 12,318 protected accounts, covering 6,367 players, coaches and officials from 387 teams who took part in 18 world and/or continental tournaments;
• 31.2 million posts analysed;
• 6.4 million comments hidden;
• 35,533 comments reported to the platforms concerned.

These are the figures for the "Social Media Protection Service" (SMPS) that FIFA launched in 2022.

"This level of player coverage, monitoring, reporting and overall protection is unprecedented in global sport," said the International Federation on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance on 16/11/2024.

"The protects players, teams and officials from online abuse, keeping their social feeds free from hate and allowing them to enjoy taking part in FIFA events. It also stops their followers being exposed to abusive, discriminatory and threatening posts preventing the normalisation of these kind of actions," explained FIFA.
