Transfers: a negative balance of €11.6bn for Premier League clubs from 2015 to 2024

The Premier League is the league whose clubs have the highest negative balance on the transfer market over the 2015-2024 cycle, at -€11.6bn, according to the CIES Football Observatory's "Weekly Post" published on 20/11/2024.

The English league is followed by the Saudi Pro League, although with losses 10 times lower, at €1.82bn, and the Serie A Enilive (€1.46bn). At the other end of the scale, the Liga Portugal Betclic has the best balance (+€2.39bn), ahead of the Brasileirão and the Eredivisie (+€1.49bn each).

The Premier League is also the league whose clubs have spent the most on the transfer market over the period (€23.14bn), well ahead of Italian clubs (€10.88bn) and LALIGA EA Sports clubs (€7.95bn).

In terms of revenue, it is once again the English clubs that have accumulated the most in transfer fees (€11.49bn) between 2015 and 2024. They are ahead of the Serie A (€9.41bn) and Ligue 1 McDonald's (€7.71bn). Ligue 1 is the European Top 5 league with the best balance, with a positive result of €270m for its clubs on the transfer market between 2015 and 2024.
