"The net situation of French clubs at 30/06/2024 remains complicated. The operating loss is in the region of €1bn, offset by very good sales with €830m in capital gains on player transfers. This generates a net loss of around €250m (€150m in Ligue 1, €100m in Ligue 2)," said Jean-Marc Mickeler, president of the DNCG, on the L'Équipe website on 22/11/2024.

"The fall in TV rights is part of a trend comparable to that observed in other leagues for domestic rights over the last five or six years, with a reduction of 11% over the term of the contract. In this context, the decline is neither surprising nor exceptional. UEFA rights, on the other hand, have increased by 30%, representing a gain of €63m for the current season. Ultimately, the net rights deficit will amount to €96m for the 2024-25 season. This amount, although substantial, should not plunge French football into an existential crisis if the economic model remains under control.
