MLS: New York City FC create the "Youth Development League" to develop and train young players

New York City FC (MLS, the North American Professional Football League) have created the "Youth Development League," a programme to promote and develop youth football in clubs affiliated to the franchise, announced New York City FC on 09/02/2015. The "Youth Development League" consists of 11 clubs affiliated to New York City FC, who make up the "Youth Network" of the New York franchise.

"The League will provide a pathway for young players and will adopt a strong focus on training and technical skills; not just games. It will also look to reduce travel time and ensure that the game environment is suitable for each age group. [...] Focusing on boys’ teams at ages U-9, U-10 and U-11, [the league will be] supported by New York City FC technical staff at the highest levels," said the franchise on 09/02/2015.
