Formula 1: General Motors/Cadillac (USA), 11^th team on the grid from 2026

American car manufacturer General Motors "has reached an agreement in principle" with Formula One Group to enter the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from the 2026 season, announced the body on 25/11/2024.

The group will thus become the 11^th team to line up on the grid under the "GM/Cadillac" banner. The team, which will take the name "Cadillac Formula 1 Team", is the first to enter the Championship since the 2016 season and the arrival of MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.

General Motors, via Cadillac, was initially associated with the project of the American team Andretti (IndyCar/Formula E) to enter F1. This project, validated by the FIA in October 2023, was rejected by Formula One Group on 31/01/2024, which considered that "the presence of an 11^th team would not, on its own, provide value to the Championship". At the time, the governing body said it was open to studying a bid for "the 2028 championship with a GM power unit, either as a GM works team or as a GM customer team designing all allowable components in-house."
