Spain: members of the RFEF general assembly elected; president to be appointed on 16/12/2024

"Both at the RFEF's headquarters in Ciudad del Fútbol (a north-western suburb of Madrid, ESP) and at various locations throughout Spain, elections were held on 25/11/2024 to determine the composition of the general assembly for the 2024-2028 period," announced the Spanish Federation on 26/11/2024.

The general assembly, the RFEF's supreme governing and representative body, is made up of 140 members, including 20 ex officio members (the president of the RFEF and the presidents of the 19 regional federations) and 120 elected members representing clubs, players, referees and coaches, according to the RFEF's statutes (document available to download in Spanish).

It is this assembly that will elect the new president in a vote scheduled for Monday 16/12/2024.

"The president is elected every four years, by free, direct and secret ballot, by the members of the general assembly. Candidates must be nominated by at least 15% of the members, and the election is held in two rounds, in the event that no candidate receives an absolute majority of the votes cast in the first round," states the statutes…
