FIFA and Qatar have officially launched the "2022 World Cup Legacy Fund", endowing it with $50m (€47m) to benefit a number of social programmes to be implemented by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), announced the International Federation on 27/11/2024. This initiative was announced on 19/11/2022, the day before the start of the 2022 World Cup.

"The objective of this fund and the multi-stakeholder partnership help FIFA deliver results beyond the pitch and support international organisations drive positive social and developmental impacts across the globe," said the world body about an initiative that will be used to finance social projects in several regions through four pillars: "refugees, education, public and occupational health, and football development programmes."

"The Legacy Fund will be implemented in close cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC, the entity in charge of organising the 2022 World Cup), based in Doha, Qatar," added FIFA.
