Paris SG-Chelsea Incidents: the LFP plans to bring civil action alongside the victim

"Taking into account the seriousness of the racist attack suffered by a passenger on the Paris metro, carried out by Chelsea supporters, Frederic Thiriez is taking advice from within the LFP and exploring the possibility of the League bringing a civil action alongside the victim," said the LFP (French Professional Football League) on 19/02/2015.

Racist incidents took place before the Paris SG-Chelsea match (1-1, round of 16 of the Champions League) on 17/01/2015. Several Chelsea supporters pushed a black passenger off a train on the Paris metro and then sang racist chants at the Richelieu-Drouot station before the match.

"What happened is intolerable. Football has to fight against racism on a daily basis. This is a priority and it it for this reason that the LFP, although it did not organise the match, wishes bring civil action. I welcome the response of the British authorities and the Chelsea club who are on our side in this fight," said Frederic Thiriez, the president of the LFP, on 19/02/2015.
