"There is no coherent, unified organising body or league in Europe. A couple of years ago, I went to a Euroleague meeting. Half of the people that were in attendance were wearing headsets for translation. I thought that it was a metaphor: they are also not speaking the same business language. There is no alliance among European basketball clubs in order to make it a proper business. Some are owned by governments, some by oligarchs, others by football clubs: by nature, there is a dissonance between ownership interests.
