Piracy: "Ligue 1 McDonald's is the most pirated competition in France" (B. Morel, LFP Media)

"In France, as the Arcom studies show, Ligue 1 McDonald's has the unfortunate title of being the most pirated sporting event. These levels of piracy are due to its attractiveness, with Ligue 1 remaining the favourite competition of the French, with a fast-growing following among young people in particular. However, most of our spectators nowadays no longer hesitate to pirate, at the risk of destroying this championship that they love so much and which is part of their football fan DNA," said Benjamin Morel, CEO of LFP Media, to Arcom, during the presentation of a study by the Ipsos polling institute commissioned by the LFP on 28/11/2024.

Among the figures from this study mentioned by the CEO:
• 37% of people who watched the Ligue 1 McDonald's in 2024-25 are said to have done so illegally;
• 27% of individuals who watch Ligue 1 illegally have started doing so since this season;
• 55% of viewers of the Olympique de Marseille - Paris Saint-Germain match (0-3, Matchday 9 of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season) watched it via illegal sources on Sunday 27/10/2024.
