Jill Ellis, former coach of the United States women's team with whom she won the 2015 and 2019 editions of the World Cup, has been appointed chief football officer at FIFA, announced the international federation on 03/12/2024.

Born in England and with dual British and American nationality, the woman who has held the position of president of San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) since June 2021 will oversee "the development and implementation of FIFA’s global football strategy."

"In her new role, Ellis will work alongside Arsène Wenger, FIFA's chief of global football development, and her responsibilities will encompass key technical areas connected to the development of the game across the world," added the body, which has thus created a new position underlining its "commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive and accessible global football community, ensuring that football remains a sport for all."

"Jill's experience, enthusiasm and outstanding achievements make her the perfect choice for this role" (M. Grafström, FIFA)
