FIFA Club World Cup: DAZN acquires exclusive global broadcasting rights for 2025 for $1bn

The OTT sports platform DAZN has acquired the exclusive global broadcasting rights to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, announced FIFA on 04/12/2024. The 63 matches of the competition will be broadcast free of charge on the streaming service.

According to the Financial Times, DAZN has obtained these rights for $1bn (€952m, as at 04/12/2024). The platform will also have the option of sub-licensing the rights to various broadcasters for free-to-air coverage of the event. The agreement begins with the live broadcast of the draw for the group stage of the competition, to be held in Miami (Florida, USA) on 05/12/2024 from 19:00 CET.

No agreements for the broadcasting of this first 32-team Club World Cup have yet been announced, although FIFA has launched several calls for tenders for the TV rights for the 2025 and 2029 editions in various territories including America, Asia, MENA, Europe and sub-Saharan Africa.
