FC Barcelona: a mascot, official song & film to celebrate the club's 125^th anniversary

FC Barcelona (LALIGA EA Sports) has launched a series of initiatives to celebrate its 125^th anniversary, which took place on 29/11/2024.

The Catalan club has introduced a new mascot, "CAT", "a wildcat, an indigenous feline of Catalonia, embodying the spirit of the club in its very essence," said Barça. This mascot is accessible for blind and partially-sighted people via a sensory box created in collaboration with the ONCE Foundation (Spanish association for the blind), which makes it possible to "see the mascot through touch". CAT was presented for the first time during the FC Barcelona - UD Las Palmas game (1-2, Matchday 15 of the 2024-25 LALIGA EA Sports season) on Saturday 30/11/2024.

The club has also selected the official song for its 125^th anniversary, called "L'escut al pit" ("The shield on the chest" in Catalan). The song, which received 63% of the public vote, is available on the music platform Spotify (partner of the club). The anthem was also played for the first time during the match versus Las Palmas.
