Naming rights: Matmut will not extend its deal with Stade de Bordeaux (€2m/year) beyond July 2025

Matmut will not be extending its naming rights agreement with SBA, the company responsible for managing and operating the Stade de Bordeaux (42,115 capacity), beyond its scheduled expiry date of 31/07/2025, announced the French mutual insurance group on 05/10/2024. Under the terms of the contract, the stadium has been known as the Matmut-Atlantique since September 2015, in return for an annual payment of €2m.

"The situation at the stadium, in particular the lack of consistent recurring visibility, has not enabled a new agreement to be drawn up to the satisfaction of the parties," explained Matmut. The stadium has not had a resident club since the end of the 2023-24 season, at the end of which FC Girondins de Bordeaux (then 12^th in Ligue 2 BKT) were administratively relegated to National 2 by the DNCG's federal commission.

The stadium was built as part of a public-private partnership for Euro 2016, at a total cost of €310m, which Bordeaux Metropolitan Council must repay until 2045.
