FIFA: P. Longoria (Olympique Marseille) & F. Carro (Bayer Leverkusen) join player welfare task force

Pablo Longoria, president of Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1 McDonald's), has been appointed to FIFA's task force on player welfare, announced the club on 05/12/2024. He joins Fernando Carro, CEO of Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Bundesliga), under the direction of Arsène Wenger, the federation's chief of global football development.

"Appointed by the ECA board to be one of its representatives on world football's governing body, Pablo Longoria joins the task force set up by FIFA focusing on the welfare of footballers. The group's objective is to examine how suitable and effective safeguards for players can be implemented, also taking into account practical considerations from operational, medical, regulatory and legal perspectives. It will also make recommendations informed by the latest scientific research into the topic of players' physical and mental well-being," explained Olympique de Marseille.
