DFB: mandatory compliance with sustainability criteria for clubs in the 3.Liga & Women's Bundesliga

"Compliance with the sustainability guidelines is mandatory for participants in the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga and the 3.Liga. The obligation applies from the 2025-26 season," announced the Deutscher Fussball Bund on 13/12/2024.

The three criteria (management & organisation, environment & resources and stakeholders), which were introduced on an optional basis in 2024-25 for the men's third division and women's first division, organised by the DFB, have been mandatory for clubs in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga - DFL competitions - since 2023-24.

"The sustainability guidelines were developed in a joint working group made up of representatives from the clubs and DFB departments as well as other experts. The group focused on three key ideas: building on what already exists, not overburdening but setting ambitious goals and focusing on the essentials."
