Capital One Cup: a competition on Twitter to light up the Wembley arch in a club's colours

The Football League has launched the #OwnTheArch contest on Twitter, to allow Chelsea or Tottenham fans to illuminate the arch of the Wembley Stadium (90,600 seats) in the colours of their club during the final of the Capital One Cup, announced the body on 23/02/2015.

For the occasion, the League has set up the hashtags #ChelseaAtWembley and #SpursAtWembley. The hashtag that has been the most used on Twitter before 6pm, on Saturday 28/03/2015, will decide the winning team. The arch will be lit in the colours of that club day before the final of the Capital One Cup (which will be played on on 01/03/2015). The progression of the contest will be published on the Twitter account CapitalOne_Cup account throughout the week.

  • The arch is illuminated through LED projectors of a variety of colours.
  • The arch will also be illuminated for England-Lithuania on 27/03/2015, a qualifying match for Euro 2016 (the finals of which will be held in France, from 10/06 to 10/07/2016).
