UEFA: €12.1m invested to support sustainability initiatives in 2023-24

UEFA deployed 79 targeted actions supporting sustainability with an investment of €12.1m (excluding Euro 2024) during the 2023-24 season, announced the European confederation on the occasion of the publication of its annual Respect report (document available to download) on 19/12/2024. The publication of this document is part of the "Strength Through Unity" sustainability strategy launched by the body in December 2021.

By 2023-24, all 55 UEFA member associations had a sustainability strategy and a dedicated sustainablity manager. In addition, "100% of UEFA events had a bespoke sustainability strategy, with 690 actions in total representing a 44% increase on 2022-23," according to the report.

UEFA's total carbon footprint in 2023-24 was 25,138 tonnes of CO2e, compared to 39,450 tCO2e in 2022-23. This difference is partly explained by the number of events organised by the body over the two seasons (12 in 2023-24 compared with 18 in 2022-23).
