Qatar 2022: EPFL expresses disagreement with the proposal (November-December) of FIFA's Task Force

"During the meeting of the Task Force for the Qatar World Cup 2022, held this morning in Doha, FIFA has proposed the period from 19 November to 23 December for the organisation of such international tournament.The Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) and the clubs have expressed their disagreement with respect to this proposal which will perturb and cause great damage to the normal running of the European domestic competitions," said the EPFL (Association of European Professional Football Leagues), in a statement on 24/01/2015.

During its meeting on 24/02/2015, FIFA's Task Force on the organisation of international matches across 2018-2024 has "[Identified] end-November/end-December as the most viable period for the 2022 FIFA World Cup." The dates of the competition will be determined at the next meeting of the Executive Committee of FIFA in Zurich (SUI) on 19 and 20/03/2015. The tournament could begin on Saturday 26/11/2022 and end on Friday 23/12/2022, a period of 28 days.
