Egypt: domestic football, suspended since 08/02/2015, will resume after 40 days of mourning

The Egyptian Premier League (Egyptian first division) will resume after a mourning period of 40 days, announced Khaled Abdel Aziz, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, on 25/02/2015.

The Egyptian government had decided to suspend, until further notice, the domestic championship following the events at the Zamalek - ENPPI (1-1, Matchday 20 of the Egyptian Premier League) on 08/02/2015. At least 19 people were killed in clashes that pitted supporters of the Zamalek club against the police, and also causing dozens injured before the match played at the Borg Al Arab stadium in Cairo (Egypt) on 08/02/2015.

The exact date of resumption of the Egyptian Premier League was not specified by the government. The 40-day mourning period would from the date of suspension would end on 19/03/2015.
