France: five Europa League matches on W9 in the top 25 free-TV DTT audiences of 2014

The private channel W9 had nine of the 25 best audiences on free DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) in 2014, according to figures from the audience measuring institute Médiamétrie, which were published on 05/01/2015. Five of the top nine audiences were achieved with Europa League matches, the audiovisual rights to which W9 shares, in France, with the pay-TV group beIN Sports for the 2012-2015 and 2015-2018 cycles.

The Olympique Lyonnais - Juventus match (0-1 on 03/04/2014), a quarter-final of the 2013-14 Europa League, gave W9 the second best DTT audience in 2014, with 2.19 million viewers on average during the game and an average audience share of 8.8%. This score is the best audience in the history of W9 for all its programmes.

The best DTT audience in 2014 was achieved by the public channel France 4, on 08/02/2014 with the first night of competition of the Sochi Winter Olympics (in Russia from 07 to 23/02/2014), which attracted an average 2.27 million viewers and had an audience share of 11.8%.
