Copa del Rey: stadium of the final to be announced on 25/03/2015, Valencia & Sevilla are favourites

The stadium that will host the final of the 2015 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) on 30/05/2015 between FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) and Athletic Club Bilbao (Liga BBVA) will be unveiled by the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) after a technical meeting which will bring together representatives of the Federation and the two clubs on 25/03/2015.

Both FC Barcelona and Athletic Club have announced that they want to play the match at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid (85,000 seats), but, according to several Spanish media outlets, Real Madrid do not want the final to be held in their stadium. The Mestalla stadium in Valencia (55,000 seats) and the Estadio Olímpico de la Cartuja in Sevilla (57,000 seats) are favourites to host the match.

The final of the Copa del Rey is not played in a fixed place: every year, the stadium which hosts the match is chosen by the RFEF after the semi-finals of the competition.

• To reach the 2015 final, FC Barcelona defeated Villarreal CF (6-2 on aggregate) in the semi-finals, while Athletic Club Bilbao defeated RCD Espanyol (3-1 on aggregate).
