2015 Copa America: host country Chile to ban beer, drums and banners inside the stadiums

The Chilean government plans to implement strict regulations for stadiums, including the banning of beer, banners and drums, as part of its "Safe Stadium Plan" to discourage football hooliganism during the 2015 Copa America (11/06 to 04/07/2015), the government announced on 06/03/2015.

"Our aim is to create a framework so the football community can enjoy a safe party, and exclude from the stadiums those who have set themselves apart from the football community," stated José Roa, the head of the Chilean government’s Safe Stadium Plan. José Roa also indicated Chile was working closely with other South American nations for use of ID checks to prevent known "trouble-maker" fans from entering stadiums during the tournament.
