Qatar 2022: the British firm Foster + Partners named the architect of the Lusail Stadium

The British firm Foster + Partners has been appointed as the architect of the Lusail Stadium (15km north of Doha, Qatar), which will host the opening match and the final of the 2022 World Cup, announced the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy on 09/03/2015.

The London firm also designed the new Wembley Stadium (90,000 seats). They will be assisted by Arup, the British engineering consultancy firm, and the architecture firm Populous, who notably designed the plans for the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal FC, London, ENG) and the Grand Stade in Lyon (FRA).

The Lusail Stadium, with a capacity of 80,000 seats, will benefit from an air conditioning system to maintain the temperatures inside the enclosure between 24° and 28° C.
