Bundesliga: Harald Strutz (Mainz 05) suggests help via transfer compensation for 2.Bundesliga teams

Harald Strutz, the president of 1. FSV Mainz 05 (Bundesliga) and the vice-president of the DFL, called for the introduction of a "gentlemen's agreement" on transfers between clubs in the German first and second divisions on 16/03/2015. He proposes that, in the future, Bundesliga clubs pay 2.Bundesliga clubs a lump sum if they recruit a player who has reached the end of his contract with a club in the German second division.

"Or perhaps a percentage to promote training, similar to what UEFA established with the obligation to pay compensation to the training club," said Harald Strutz in a column in the German magazine Kicker, on 16/03/2015. "These are just ideas that need to be debated informally between us, since they can only be applied on a voluntary basis and because you have to meet the expectations of the players' union (VDV)," added the vice-president of the German professional football league.
