UEFA: "It's important for football that there is a change in FIFA" (Michel Platini)

"There will be four candidates. Let's see what happens, let's see the programmes of the four candidates. But I think it's important for football that there is a change in FIFA," stated Michel Platini, the president of UEFA, on the subject of the FIFA presidential elections, during a video Q&A session organised by UEFA on 16/03/2015.

Four candidates are running for the presidency of FIFA, the election of which will take place in Zurich (SUI) on 29/05/2015 during the congress of the international body: Joseph Blatter (SUI), who has been FIFA's president since 1998, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein (JOR), Luís Figo (POR) and Michael van Praag (NED).

"It is a very nice opportunity to open a debate for democratic reasons in the world of football, and FIFA needs new ideas, a new programme," said Michel Platini.
